can someone give me the correct specs to overclock my cpu to the highest possible?

mine Be6-ii pIII 800 @992
proper cooling, <40C underload
256 crucial cas 2
promise controllers
win 98se
geforce MX leadteck

also, when testing in 3dmarks - - it locks up if I go higher than 122 fsb plus I can't get higher than 126 fsb....I read that others get 1100, 1200 ..

my core cb0,
I've tried: increasing voltage, as well as io voltage, tried using the hpt highpoint controllers instead of promise, used both 1/3 and 1/4 dividers in bios, tried memory at cas 3, tried testing at default 175/166 card speed (still locks), tried re-installing 3dmark and card drivers, no luck there.

at 124 my pci is under clocked (tried over as well at 1/3), and my card is 81.xx speed.

ANyone have a clue?!??

many thanks,
frankii

You may already be at the top of the core. Not a very high percentage of PIII's will go over 1GHz without active cooling. At least not with full stability. If you see people running them at 1100-1200 then they are almost assuredly running active cooling to get there.

true, that could be, but the thing is, it's not that hot yet, so I'm wondering what else it could be..i.e, it's not like it's burning up right? Could it also be the BX chip is getting to hot?

many thanks,
frankii

CoolerMaster heatsink w/delta 38
Asus CUV4X
MSI GeForce2 GTS 815

I can't say that I've ever seen the BX chipset get hot enough to cause a crash, but it's possible. I have put coolers on the BX chips to get better stability at high FSBs, so it can definitely help. I've used the Tennmax lasagna coolers to good effect.

so should I try thermal grease on the BX chip???

also, mine is a cbo, not cco...
thanks
ps ,,,great band "pink floyd"
was in highschool when the wall came out so I guess it's not really pink floyd...right?

maybe try some burn-in test
