Hi,

I'm getting a PIII 600E (slot 1), and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the stepping is.

I'll find out for sure in a week or so, when it arrives in the mail, I'm just curious now...........=)

The numbers are:

Pentium III Philipines
600E/256/100/1.65
10150346-0348 SL44Y

The guy I'm getting it from said its a 1999 year chip, but doesn't the second digit of the third line above indicate 2000 (0=2000, 9=1999)? And the "15" (3rd/4th digits) indicates the 15th week of the year, correct?

Looking thru the database, it seems I should reasonably expect 800 MHz from this chip, with the chance of more. Sounds like I've got a replacement for my C II 600 @ 945.

I've got the fingers crossed.............

Thanks in advance!!

SL44Y is a Retail Boxed cBo stepping. You are correct in your interpretation of the other numbers.

This is the Intel stepping document.

Thank you, a cB0 chip should do quite nicely.

Looking into hsf's right now...........I'm seriously leaning towards saving up the $$, running the retail HSF thats coming w/ it until I can get an Alpha P3125. this thing looks like it could cool Hades!!

If anyone else reads this thread, and is running this cpu/hsf combo on an abit BE6 II, hows the clearance w/ this large a cooler??

Thanks again!!!

I'm not too familiar with the dimensions of that cooler. I have a PEP66 on my BF6 and it costs me a DIMM slot. I believe that the 3125 does that as well.

Yes, you will lose 1 DIMM slot with the P3125 and BE6-II.

Also, that chip should do 800 pretty easily. I had an SL44Y(from week 16 I believe) and it would easily run 900 MHZ. It was made in Malaysia. I believe some of the people with Phillipine chips from that same timeframe were hitting 840. Good Luck!!

Well.......as long as I can use two DIMM slots. Enough to hold my 2 sticks of 128MB PC 133. =)

If losing a DIMM slot is the ONLY price to pay to run an Alpha/PIII on this mb, I'm happy.

Sounds like I might just have a fairly decent system in the works. From what I've read here, a PIII 600E running anywhere over 800 kicks ass on my current C II 600 @ 945.

Can't wait to see.............

i have a p3v4x and that cooler. I put to machine together at the same time, both same set up with that cooler, one machine the cooler barly covered a dimm slot, ont he other machine the dimm slot had just enough room to put int he mem-chip without touching. I don't know how that compares to a bE-6 but i thought it might help.
