i was poking around and i found an article(i can't find it now) saying i could unlock a 100mhz FSB p3 so it will be able to be read as a 133mhz FSB? what does this mean. i'm sure this question was answered long ago when the p3 katmai was new, but i just got one. also is the multiplier locked? if so is it possible to unlock like on the athlon? anyways the setup i will be running is this:

p3 500 katmai slot 1
alpha p3125 heatsink
abit vt6x4
128mg pc133 hyundai ram
leadtek tnt2 ultra 32mg
30gig maxtor 7200rpm
250w mid tower atx case

any comments on the setup or how i could make it better(i'm poor)? and how do unlock the fsb/multiplier(if possible)? i remeber it being something like taping over a part of the pins on the bottom(for the fsb). also is it possible to run my chip at 150mhz fsb? i looked at the cpu database, but it only gave speeds and some setups, not multiplier and fsb settings. anyways any help at all would be much appreciated.

thx in advance, jonjonsanfru

OK, THE FSB was never locked":O} But your MB must offer aadjustment or you must use a slotket to adjust it, if you MB supports this. Multiplyer is forever locked.

understanble, but then why do some chips lables 133mhz fsba dn others 100mhz fsb? is it just the multiplier is set so that at 133mhz it runs at the given clock speed? also will my setup overclock? i mean could i hit 5x133? or even 5x150?

I have the same CPU. It will not run above 5x112=560, stable. This is a limitation of the cache chips on the PCB. With a coppermine CPU, the cache runs at full speed. With a "Katmai", they run at half the core speed.
Consider yourself lucky if you go over 600 with this chip.
