FLOPPY WONT WORK! Cant install XP Pro

I just built a new system, getting ready to install Windows XP Pro and the floppy drive will not do ANYTHING (but is detected). I need it so I can load the RAID/S-ATA drivers so it will recognize the HDD.

System Specs:
Cheap case with 400w PS (P4 approved)
Abit KV7
256MB DDR 400
AthalonXP 1700+ (Boxed, Stock Speed)
Maxtor 80GB S-ATA HDD
old Toshiba 24X CD-ROM (known good)
eVGA Geforce4 440 MX 8X Personal Cinema
Alps Electronics\IBM floppy drive

What could be wrong? All connections check OK. Tried 2 FDD's, same results: detected and nothing else. BTW: the FDD lite doesn't blink when it boots.

Thanks in advance,
Kyle
