Hello... Been out of the loop for awhile, after getting a pair of Celermine 500s to 800 @ 1.7..... I think I may have finally done some damage to them over the past 8 months as my systems are becoming less and less stable... but those could be other things too, Ive been overclocking my vid cards and playing w/ beta drivers... All fun stuff.
ANYWAYS, what I wanted to ask is Im planning a buying a new pair of chips and wanted to stick w/ the Celermines because of my good luck with them (Had a pair of 333s before @ 550...), because of their low price ( < $100 for 733, only $130 for an 800), and so I wouldn't have to buy a new mobo for an AMD. (Using a P3V4X and have been very happy.) Im also on a budget. Which chip would all yall reccomend to break the magic 1G? I've got quality PC133 Ram that should have no probs at > 133, but I'd like to have a chip designed for 100 fsb so I have some breathing room to overclock knowing instabilities arn't being caused by the RAM- I can play with > 133 fsb after I've proven stability @ 133 fsb. Also, which design should I be getting/ which stepping architecture/ whatever? Also, Is the P3 a better overclocker? Ill shell out the extra cash, but cause I'm buying a pair I'd like to keep costs down.... My experience w/ the P3 was back w/ a 533 and I could only get it stable @ 600... my Celermine 533s are both at 800.
Thanx in advance for your suggestions!

i'd recommend the celeron 600. be sure to get a cC0...you'll know if it is when the cpu is at 1.7v by default.

anyways...your bad experience with the Pentium III 533@600 could be attributed to the processor you got. firstly, it's probably a Katmai...you either had a Pentium III 533B (Katmai) or a Pentium II 533EB (coppermine). sad to say, that processor is already at a high fsb that time...133 and your multiplier was 4. if you got a 500E or 550E that time, you'd be running your 500E at 700 at least and your 550E at around 750 or more. the first 133mhz coppermines weren't too good in overclocking...

anyways...better get a Pentium III 600E right now...if you do get a cB0, 900 is almost assured, and that'll definitely kill the celermine even if it's running at 1GHz or higher.
