Is there a soundcard that can do this?

I am in need of a soundcard that has capabilites to run Four computer speakers and a subwoofer that i built. I havent built the fronts and the rears yet, but i am using regular computer speakers as of now.


Kinda like a Surround sound, Soundcard I guess, Just as long as i can hook up my Subwoofer that i built and 4 other speakers up to it, and has the ability to play seperate (audio or sound) for front and rear channels. Cause i know the fronts and the rears dont always play the same (audio or sound) in a movie. Thats why they have fronts and rears.

So anyhelp will be appreciated.

maybe if ya get a 5.1 card and then put mini jacks on ur speakers idk i think that miht work

Soundstorm can do that, I dont own any sound card so I dont know what cards can do it though.

I can only find soundstorm that comes with a Motherboard.

You'd have to integrate an amplifier into your speakers since the line outs are very low wattage. Then you'd have to separate the channels for the front jack and the rear jack.

Most all sound cards and onboard sound is 5.1 now. Usually the front l & r speakers share a port, rear l & r, and center/sub.

I have the Logitech z640 ($65 from Newegg) and an Audigy 2. I had a SB Live 5.1 and the software was horrible for it. The Audigy s/w is much better separating the channels. The speakers are really good for the price.

I'd get an external amp if I were you, maybe even two. But an Audigy 2 I know for a fact will work, as for the Soundstorm, equipped on many motherboards.

Look into Creatives Audigy's (I or II) or M-Audio (http://www.m-audio.com/index.php) for soundcards.

You will need/want to run them through an amp or receiver first.

SB live will work. Has 3 jacks out. One for l/r front. One for sub/center and one for rear l/r

I have an external amplifier on the subwoofer box that i built myself. The amp only has 2 speaker terminal high outputs and inputs, and 1 RCA output. Im really not sure how to incorporate other speakers into the system.

But right now i have a 3.5mm Microphone cord going into my Line Out. The cord splits into 2 RCA jacks. One RCA Jack goes to the 2 regular computer speakers. THe other RCA jack goes to 3.5mm microphone jack to 2 RCA's, The RCA cable then goes into my external Subwoofer Amplifier. Hope this helps a little bit more.

Ahh, OK, sounds like you are using a Stereo Amp to power your sub.

You need a hometheater 5.1 sorta thing to power all those speakers, kinda like this reciever (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&dept=10&WLBS=fsweb15&sku_id=0665000FS10026975&catid=&newdeptid=10)
you might just be better off buying a high quality computer speaker setup tho.

yes thats right. you'll need a 5.1 sound card that can output a low-lever signal to a 5.1 intergrated amp such as the one suggested above.

i have a similar setup. Im using my on-baord soundstorm to drive a yamaha a/v amp and a 12" sub powered by a stereo "creek" amp:

you dont nessiarly need a integrated amp and pre/pro like the one james is using, since the sound card is already doing all the decoding to analog you could just use any straight up amplifier.

yes, but then you'd need at least 3 stereo amps to drive those speakers, it would be easier and cheaper to buy a 5.1/6.1 a/v amp with an intergrated decoder.
