I bought my computer quite a while ago, an duntil recently i had an original heatsink on the processor. Now Ive put on a large heatsink from a 17" monitor, quite home made but the temperature whent down 20º c to a stable 37º c @540. So the cooling on the chip is out of the way, I think.
The fsb is 120 and i want it to go higher!
I tried with a 133 memory chip and it dinnt make no difference.

There are 3 small chips on my processor, one large and two small ones, except the main chip. I put some cooling on the two small ones but i couldent reach the large on the backside.
That are the chips?

Could it be the chipset that is to hot when in change the FSB to 133?

I have an Asus p3b-f motherboard. And what I have heard its quite good to overclock.

Thanks.

Sell it on Ebay, and buy an Iwill Slocket II and an FCPGA P3 500 or 600 or 700.

OR

Try better cooling, more VIO, and more Vcore.

OR

Get a new MoBo that supports 1/4PCI and 1/2AGP

OR

Try a different video card, one that doesn't mind high bus speeds.

Hell, I recommend doing all four if you can afford it, but that's just me!

Typical values for the PII450 are 560MHz rang, if your mobo supports 124 FSB you should reach that though you will likely need to bring up the voltage to 2.1 or 2.2.

133FSB is 600MHz and unless you have a late model PIII450 this speed is very hard to reach.

The chips on the front are the cache. It runs at 1/2 processor speed. In earlier 450s this was the limiting factor, as it is most often only specced for 225MHz. Later models hade 300MHz cache and a new stepping, resulting in better o/cablility (up to 630). Jeff is right, this chip may not be worth much mor effort given that you can pick up a new celeron or slower CuMine for under $120 now.

You say that your cpu is a p3-450, that must be the first p3 proc and if thats the case then it is probably the first .25 which has to have some major limitations. I don't think it will go any higher than 540mhz. It is now a museum piece, right up there with the cavemen and dinosaurs.
