I have attained the hallowed ground !!

I received my 2nd Celeron 600 in the mail yesterday. After spending a couple of hours setting everything up, (lapping a second Gorb, etc......) I plugged it in.

I started out at 1.8 Vcore, set the FSB in the BIOS to 100.

Bumped FSB up in SoftFSB....locked immediately at 112.

Raised Vcore to 1.9, reboot, repeat. Locked @ 115 FSB. Reboot, stop @ 112. Played w/ this for a while...Sandra's burn in ran fine, but locked up in the first graphics intensive game I played.

Bumped Vcore to 2.05, repeat again. No problems in game now. Hmmmmm.... Bump FSB in SoftFSB to 115. Lasted long enough to get a screen shot...hehehe. (reboot) Ran Prime95's torture test for a half an hour. No locks, and the temps never rose over 38.8C. Tried 115 again, cuz' I'm a glutton for punishment..........lock.

Rebooted one more time, and after checking my e-mail, ran Prime95's torture test overnight. (at 112)

It was still runnning when I got up.......I'd have to say I'm stable at these settings. I'll let in stay here for a few days, and see if I can drop the voltage down to under 2.0.

I have reached the ! GHz mark !

Now, when I can ditch this mobo, (VIA chipset) and get a REAL board with good memory bandwidth, I'll have something.......

nice job... this lapping thing....
i think i shoul join the club, my c2 633 peaks at 107 fsb @ 1.9 volts (gorb cooling)...
but with lapping, hey if i could get it upto 112 FSB :-) now we are talking

You should run it at default speed with a high voltage for burning as this works better with lower temps and high voltages.

I wouldn't lap a flip chip, personally... there is not much but CPU core to sand.

Thank you for the kind works, guys.

I'm going to run it like this (112 FSB @ 2.05v) for a few days, and then I'll make another try at 115 FSB. It ran for a couple of minutes there this morning before locking.

If it locks @ 115, I'll still be extremely happy at 112, and start trying to drop the voltage.

I had to get a bit goofy and play w/ the webcam.....took a new pic. (See upper left) In all honesty, that's my 600 @ 945 in the pic, however, both chips are set up the same, (mounted in a slocket, with a Gorb attached) so for all intents and purposes..........

Right now my temps are:

Room.....21C
Case......22.8C
CPU (idle) 26.7C

I also have Rain 2.0 running, which I've noticed helps a LOT. I'd say the Gorb is doing its job.

Hope I'm half as lucky w/ the P III 600E I'm getting next week.
