i will be geting a barton 2500+, would it be better to have pc3200 ram or something with headroom for overclocking something like pc3700. i am just saying more than likely i will be geting a locked cpu, so what do you think??

With the likelyhood of a locked Barton being EXTREMELY HIGH, your overclocking will definitely depend on your northbridge and ram capabilities. As for which ram rating to get, it really depends on the chipset used in your motherboard.
If you have an nForce2 v2 or a KT600 board, get the higher rated ram (up to pc4000).
With an nForce2 v1 or a KT400/KT400A board, get some pc3500 or pc3700 rated ram since a little headroom will help, but too much will go unused.
If you have an original nForce or a KT333 board, the speed of even the pc3200 might be wasted.

With that board get the highest ram rating you can afford. I would personally go for Mushkin Black Level 2 512 2 x 256 (If its in stock)
