i m using a pen 3 slot 1 p800eb processor
with asus p3v4x mobo and 128 toshiba 7.5ns ram
the max i got this thing to go at is 876
it crashes when in windows
i get the thing now going at 864 but it only stable in windows 98se but it crashes in most of games after 1-5 minutes
and i have one more problem
my processor runs at 50-64c no matter what - even when not oveclocked!!
is this hot or not? i m currently using stock everything except for a 5000 rpm 12v 8cm fan to cool down my hd
plz help

HOT HOT HOT!
Way too much! Normal temp should max be at 35C-40C even with a stock fan, at least if yourīre not overclocking. Are you using 133Mhz RAM? Is the CPU 133MHz och 100MHz? If it is 133 the RAM may not be able to go further. Itīs hard to overclock a P3-133MHz. Give me more info and maybe I can help.

I have an 800EB running at 900. I've tested it stable at 960 but didn't want the PCI freq to be that high. I think with better cooling you'll do much better.

The 800e is a chip with a horrid 8.0x multiplier and therefore I would suggest a peltier / air (such as the swiftech kit) in order to attempt to gain some stability at 133Mhz FSB.
Another re-iteration. The lower the multiplier and higher the stepping on a 100Mhz FSB the better - so why so many people buying chips with high multipliers - do they think they are "faster" or something?
Didn't the original poster stated its an 800EB rather than an 800E? Anyway the 800 chips are never good oc'ers , you may get lucky and hit 900+. Enough info is given to know that its PC133 RAM (7.5ns) so at 864mhz you're oc'ing the fsb to 144mhz..quite hi for generic pc133 ram. I'd suggest using PC150 or 7ns(143mhz) Ram for better overclocking results and stability. Still the temps are too high. Are you sure the readings are accurate? I've heard instances where the Asus Probe utility if in fact that is what you're using, have reported errorneously high readings

i m using mbm 5 to take those readings
it shows bascially the same thing in the bios menu

On a serious note, you should add at least 1 or 2 extra fans
to get some airflow through that case...
Also fiddle with all the ram timing settings, (cas2/cas3 ect.),
before messing around with your voltage.
You might just need some better ram. The Crucial/Micron
256mb chip seems to work great, and it is real cheap
right now.
My 800EB cB0 likes 901mhz (150fsb) just fine at stock
1.65 voltage.....
As you may have guessed, I havent bothered installing a
CPU temp. monitor cable since it seems to be running nice
and cool.
I've added a high output 80mm fan and a baycooler to draw
air in, and a slot cooler and an extra 80mm fan for exhaust.
My mb temp never gets more than 3-5 degrees over
room temp.
