Wifeys new rig

Pentium4 2.4C SL6WF Q320A438
Abit IS7E ver 1.2
Zalman CNPS 7000A CU
OCZ EL pc4000 DDR500 Gold 2X256 Dual Channel
Maxtor 40 gig
Zalman 400 APF noiseless psu
and the usual other stuff.

I got this chip to boot at 285 (3420) with stock v/core of 1.525 volts and do some benchies but not stable. Chip was stable at 270 (3300) with prime torture test for half an hour.CPU was 41 C idle and actually saw it climb to 54 C.

The OCZ memory will do 250 (3 gig) 2.5 4 4 8 on this board with a 1:1 setting with the vdimm maxed at 2.8volts but will not run 255fsb at 1:1 no matter what I try on this board. It may be because of a low 12v rail as under load it is reported to be 11.61 by speedfan. I used memtest to max out the ram settings. I tried slots 2 +4 as opposed to 1 +3 but got the same results. Could not get GAT to work at any setting even at 200/200 with CPU strap set to 667 all I would get was the long beeep. No turbo, street racer, F1 or anything

I got the same mem scores (5500+ Sandra) at 270 5:4 as I do at 250 1:1 so I set it to the lower one for her because I am thinking this will decrease the temp of the chip and increase its longevity.

Ctiaw always reported PAT as being disabled on this board even with CPU stap set to 800 as opposed to by CPU. Is there a way to enable PAT on this board ?

Well it has been fun playing with it and I just wanted to share my little adventure with you all.

give it 1.6v @ 285 and see what happens.

Unless there is a bios hack to enable it, you have an 865 chipset so no "PAT". Memtest to max the ram settings? I don't follow...memtest86?

shortbus, I did have it run at 285 with default voltage but could not do 290 no matter how many volts (went to 1.65 ) I threw at the cpu. I think maybe my err her mobo is holding it back now.

Grandpa Dan, Yes I meant memtest86. Good lil program to find max for your memory.

As far as "PAT" I thought I had read somewhere that some of the 865 chipsets had it work on them. Also read that alot of them were just flunky 875 boards that wouldn't meet Abit's standards.

I know with the Asus 865 boards full PAT is only available at or below 200 fsb or using bigtoe's bios hack.

yeah it seems that the newer mo step doesnt respond as well to higher voltages. my cpu reaches its max 290 fsb at 1.65v but does 275-280 at default.
