Im getting a Celeron 600 tommorow morning but the ******** wont let me check the S-Spec on the chips because they are retail boxes so I dont knwo how to tell if it has a good core or not, I was wondering if you can tell a chip is a cC0 by looking at the box anywhere.
Also if I get a cB0 will it still overclock to 900? This is the most important Q I think because Im afraid Im gonna get **** outta luck!
I have 256 MB of good PC-100 ram a Abit BH6 mobo a Abit SlotKET 3 slocket and I will get a Golden Orb and thermal arctic stuff unless you think I should get somethign else.
Thanks guys!

Nothing wrong with a cBo.... my C2 633 works great @ 105 FSB
for the C2 600
boxed
SL3W8 cB0
SL4NX cC0
OEM
SL46U cB0
SL4PB cC0
look for the SL portion on he box... it is on the side on a white sticker. The SL prortion is the last part of the PROD. CODE: located on the top of the sticker..... that is is you get the boxed version. If you get the OEM... not sure how to tell
I own a pair of cC0's. the quick way to tell 'em apart, the cC0 runs a default voltage of 1.7, the cB0 is 1.65.
Enjoy!!

Actualy cbo is 1.5v default i have my cbo celly 566 running at 986 fsb 116 at 1.9v with a gorb 45 underload people please dont shy away from the cbo they o/c just as good

No 100% true.... the cBo under has diff volts.. depend how fast it is
for cBo's
533-600 1.50 volts
633-700 1.65 volts
no cBo faster than 700
for cCo's
566-800 1.70 volts
no cCo @ 533
Yes that is true i was going to change that but u beat me to it hehe

So thats the difference between cCO&cBO. The voltage is higher for the cCO! I got a cBO, didnt know what that meant.

a certian proportion of cC0's may be easier to overclock than the cB0's. But on the whole I would state that the cB0 stepping is a more consistent stepping.
I'm not saying that it is a consistently bad core at all. It's just that you will definatley get a 600 to 900 with some work whereas a cC0 really is big time pot luck.
This is only my opinion though. Facts are not facts with CPU's they differ so.
My cB0 does 1035Mhz anyway. who needs cC0

Thanks guys thats awesome, I'll check the sticker and try to get a cC0 stepping, hopefully I can overclock it really good, but I still might need your help with voltages and that crazy stuff, cause I'm pretty clueless about it, thanks again guys!

There's definitely no guarrantees that the cC0 will overclock better or further, it all depends on the individual chip in question. there's cC0 chips out there that are dogs. I've gotten lucky, with two cC0's that run 945 and 1009. I've seen higher and lower than this, both cB0 and cC0.
I will agree with your post in another thread that the higher multipliers are worse for overclocking, but the 600 is a pretty good chip to work with. Neither of my C II's required much in the way of "work" to run fast. I DID take the time to lap the sink, and lightly the cpu, but other than that I just plugged them in, upped the voltage on the slocket, and was done. I'd lap the sink for a 566 cB0 too, if I had one.
Don't know if you were referring to ME being a "spoonhead" or not......maybe I am. If so, I've been called a lot worse, but not since I quit drinking.......
I'd wholeheartedly recommend the C II 600, not the 667 and up, though. The 566 and 600 are probably the best two chips intel has going, if you want to overclock. That's my opinion.
Enjoy!!
