I bought some MSI KM4M-L only to find that the boards do not support overclocking AT ALL :( ... darn it ..

I have
1x 2100+ AIUHB DUT3C
1x 1800+ JIUHB DLT3C
1x 1700+ JIUHB DLT3C

that need a good, cheap boards to run them overclocked to about 2200Mhz each (don't care about fsb, since the raw Mhz is what counts in the end).. so for as long as the board runs those above processors and I can change multiplier to get ~2200 on each, then i'm good :D. Onboard video would be nice, but I can score some cheap ATI rage pro from time to time, so it's not mandatory :D .. and the board need to take DDR (have some 2700s lying around ..)

also where to get 3 decent HSFs that can cool the cpus at that speed?? I doubt my original 2500+ HSF, 1800+ original HSF, and a $2 SVC GC68 can cool 'em down :( ...

they are all running on stock right now on KM4M-Ls ..

Thx

The original 2500 heatsink should be fine for moderate overclocking. And if the sink for the 1800 was a Tbred sink then it should be fine as well. They are really decent sinks from the early Pally sinks.

Just try the wire trick to raise the multiplier higher than what the stock one is for the 1800 and 1700. The 2100 is at 13 already and I have not been successful on getting a processor to run with the higher multi's when I wire tricked, I only had an even lower one than before. I'll find the links for the wire tricks for you real quick.

13x166 would give close to 2200Mhz on the 2100 .. that's the only jumper setting available on the KM4M-L other than the 133FSB :( ... tried that, but with no option to change the vcore at all, at 1.65V, it always fail to fold to 100% .. does the wire trick work to increase the vcore to .. say 1.75V?? I'd love to do that .. but are you sure that the board will supply 1.75V once I do the wire trick??

There are bridges on the surface of the CPU (L11) you can connect with conductive paint to increase the default vcore.

The wire trick link I sent you will do the same thing as the painting guide. You can increase the Multi, Vcore, FSB default (133,166,200)

oopss ... after looking at dumpinggoods.com's Abit KD7 Refurb for $24, I decided to get three of those instead ... they will replace all the KM4M-L .. whoo hoo!! :D ...

now if only I can get my hands on 3 decent HSFs to cool down all three chips on ~2200Mhz .. any recommendation guys? as always, cost is the main factor :( ...

I would look into Copper HSF's for sure. Either something from the ThermalRight line or something similar.

Did dumpinggoods.com have the boards in stock? From what I've heard about them, they'll list things on their site that aren't in stock. They have a 6.67 rating at resellerratings.com and a 1.9 (out of 5) at pricegrabber.com
