View Full Version : week 34 barton 2500 O/C issues
OK here is the deal
my chip is AQXEA0334SPMMW barton 2500+
here are my bios settings
CPU interface enabled
220 FSB Multi is 10
ram settings are 2,2,2,11
my voltage is stock for the CPU
RAM is @2.8
and northbridge is @ 1.7
My CPU temp is 38C under load
My prime 95 says fatal eror after 3 tests on this, what isthe deal.
I though this barton could go farther than that
MY hardware should be in my sig.
any help would be GREAT thanks ROB
forgot to say that my PSU is an antec 430 true power all rails are fine!!

1.7 volts may be too low, what happens at higher Vdimm adn Vcore voltages?
Why dun you try leaving your FSB @ 200MHz, then upping the multipler until you reach a clock speed where you are not prime stable. Next, test for the highest speed that your mobo will allow you on the FSB and the highest speed your ram can handle. You can relax timings to 2.5-4-4-8 to test for your mobo's highest possible FSB. Then, of course, 2-2-2-11 & 2-2-3-11 are actually very close in performance, the difference is less than 2%. If the ram and mobo can handle a few more mhz at the later timings than the former ones, well, you should go for it. Then, combine these two(the highest FSB possible & the correct multipler) to equal your highest CPU speed possible. Done. Cheers.:p
1.7 is the highest my board has for the NB w/out hthe pencil trick
also for benching purposes, doesn't ram speed help out more than CPU MHZ? why would i want to start back @ 200?? curious

since you have the cooling, increase the vcore to determine if it is infact the cpu holding back your overclock. next, try the ram (more voltage, looser timings). The nf7-s 2.0 should be able to go at least 220-230 fsb. Also try different vdd voltages, the people who have really awesome boards are hitting very high fsbs with 1.5-1.6v
so it might be i have the memory cranked up to high to allow for the potential of the CPU? eventhough the memory can handle it, the mobo and cpu, and northbridge can't??
