Hi fellas I have recently overclocked a brand new Celeron cC0 600 to 900.

I have it on a Abit SlotKET 3 and in a Abit BH6 mobo.

I am cooling it buy using a golden orb fan and arctic silver, it has another fan right near/behind the chipset and it is sucking the hot air out. Then I have another bigger fan in the CD-Rom bays blowing air right on it.

I am using a program called Motherboard Probe (MBProbe) to check the temps, it says im running at 57C and or 135F when basically idle.

I used another program called motherboard Monitor and it said I had temps around 255F.

WTF is going on here, something is fishly, I think this is adequate cooling (I am adding 2 more fans, one to suck one to blow, towards the bottom of the case anyway) This is more cooling than friends of mine use on their relatively exact same setup.

Do you think I should worry about these temps or do you think im getting bad readings?

Thanks for you help guys!

From 600 to 900 is a big over clock and the Gorb is only a marginal cooler I would bet a Gobal Win or an Alpha. Your temps may not be acurate but they are very high for being at idle.

Real deal temperatures for celeron 600's at 900 are between 34°c to 40°c dependant upon the variables of voltage and stepping (cC0 is cooler than cB0 for instance).

Using a tripe fan like a Golden Orb (with an inverse taper on the bottom) will not help matters. Get a real cooler, not a pretty one.

Im running it at 1.7 volts, the default voltage, something cant be right can you reccomend a better win temp monitor other than what I was using?

Im wonderign if the fool that put my arctic silver on didnt do it right, i saw him just like goop it on, would this be the culprit??

thanks guys.

Same thing happened to me when I first installed MBM with my BH6. Temps read 255. I re-selected the LM79 sensor for temp 1 and all was fine. I now get an accurate system temp.

i have a cco633@950 100x9.5 @1.71V
and only with a gorb... temps are 21C idle... 35-40C under load. i have it on a soyo 6ba+100.

only 1 80mm in the front sucking air in, and one in the back blowing out. and that's all. it's stable as heck... no problems whatsoever. i could get it to 1ghz, but my video card can't take it. it'll boot up and run fine, but if i do benchmarking, it'll crash... but extremely stable at 950 w/ little extra cooling...

Thanks guys I changed my MB monitor thing to point to the LM79 option now and it seems im getting like 30 idle now, but somone told me that was just the mb temp no the actual temp, is that true?

Correct, the LM79 sensor only monitors system temp inside the case. The BH6 does not have a sensor to read the CPU temp.

Damn knew it so the last question I guess would be is there *any* way for me to check my CPU temp?

Thanks for all your help guys this forum is great!

Probably the best bet would be to use a CompuNurse. It's available at alot of cooling stores like 2cooltek.com and plycon.com. I am definately considering getting one. It's a thermistor lead connected to an LCD readout that can easily be fitted into a 5-1/4 bay cover. Check them out!
