I really like playing at arcades, its cool when everyone can see you wrath upon other players haha :) I mostly hit the raching games, dosent matter to me if its, F1, NASCAR, jetboat or whatever, I play them all :) Don't forget pinball machines ;) those are always fun too, how about you?

home gaming is always fun too, but you dont have the same environment as an arcade, "unless you have 50 people over

No arcades left in my town, not that i know of anyway. We used to go play the thing where you punch a pad and harder punch gets more prize tickets, and teh do like a vault up double footed kick to win lots of tickets lol. That was liek 7 years ago though......

I am good freinds with the only Arcade owner in town, he was on my Highschool wrestling team, I tend to enjoy racing games and OLD OLD games, in Arcades but any other type of game is much better at home, its all about comfort, I like my keyboard, ( though I just got a new one and right now it doesn't have the same comfort level)

My mom's considering buying a pinball machine. Believe me, if she did there would always be 50 people around. :)

I like them both. I like home gaming because you dont have all the distractions, and the pressure of people watching, or when you go to get more tokens people steal your game that they knew you were coming right back to. But at an arcade there is the pride of seeing your name on the list of top scores, and people saying, "wow your good.", or "how'd you do that. so I like them both. that and its a 20 min. drive one way for the nearest arcade.

Arcades are a rip IMO. Maybe if they only cost a quater to play instead of like a 1.50 for one game thats usually pretty hard I would spend money at them. It sucks because it costs like $10 just to learn the controls and probably realize I hate the game.

I play pinball occasionally, and light gun games are still cool only because I don't have them at home. But I feel everything else is just not worth the money by a long shot.

theres this arcade here in lake geneva, "Gameland"
its got nothing BUT old-school games
i think the newest one there is tekken 3...

they got about 15 old pinball games, like the black knight, and then they got stuff like Tron, Tempest and the original Star Wars, where everything is "lines"

every game is pretty much a quarter.

downside: the place is dirty, dirty.

upside: there is never more than 5 people in the arcade at all times...

anyone else been there?

I have a Gameworks near where I live (downtown seattle) but I rarely go there, and when I do I only play Star Wars Trilogy Arcade or other games I cant normally play at home, racing games, Shooters (time crisis) etc. I'm pretty good and can get to the last chapter on one credit and I love it when other guys are using credits like no tomorrow while I mow through levels without getting hit once :D.

Gawd, I used to spend $$$ at the arcades. I used to love the original Punchout, where it was supposed to be 3d and your guy was made up of a green grid. It was pretty much the same as Mike Tyson's Punchout but with better graphics. I also love that old karate game (think it was called Kung FU) where for bonus rounds you would have to jump the charging bulls. Dragons Lair 3d was cool too, but my mom would never give me enough $$$ to keep plinging .50 at it to get good at it. That game had spectacular graphics for its day. The arcades really started taking a hit when the Playstation hit town though, you could get near arcade quality games at home and not have to drive or keep plinking quarters at a game that you could play at home. Oh yeah, Enduro was fun too where you sat on the motorcycle and had to lean side to side to stear and lean back to wheelie over down trees and rocks. Yeah, I used to love the arcades, but now that I have a pretty descent computer I rarely go there excepts maybe when I am at the mall and wanna treat the kids to some old school gaming and mini golf.

Honestly I'm not to fond of arcades. I really only like playing classic arcade games if they have them. Galaga or even that bowling game. Where you push the ball really hard. I have an evil Kenevil (Sp?) pinball machine in my basement so Im set for pinball if I want to play. Someone on my mom's side of the family Owns whats called.. Star Amusements. I haven't really talked to anyone about it though. Family reunions, we would rent out a hall and he would bring bascially, our own personal arcade their. Switch all the games to free play. It rules. I know he'd be able to get me good deals on pinball machines or somthing.

I love arcades. A year ago I decided to stop saving money for computer stuff, and start saving money and buying arcade cabinets. So far I have a marvel vs. Capcom, Neo-Geo w/6 games, and point blank.

When ever I used to buy computer parts, I would always get the buyers remorse. I have never experienced that when I buy my arcade cabinets. I now have enough money to buy my next one, but I feel its time to do it the O/C way and build it myself. At least I have something to do over summer now. :)

What I want most is a pinball machine, but I feel its way to much money to spend on a "game", they take up too much space, and they are not as flexible as an arcade cabinet.

My god what I wouldn't do for the space to have a full size Galaga, Tempest, Robotron 2084, and Outrun with the sit down car thing that moved with you as you cornered and stuff. Mmmmmmm old arcading goodness.
