You probably don't want to hear this, but...at the home page there are links to several articles and FAQ's that should help more than anything else in your quest for more speed. After reading through a few of those, the experts and novices in the forums will jump all over any specific questions you may have. The guides are written very well, the authors mostly explain things in an easily understandable way, without "talking down" to you, and humor is spattered throughout.
Oh, and your p75 is probably on a Socket 7 motherboard. If you can identify the motherboard (and even if not) you could go to http://www.pricewatch.com and buy the fastest Intel or AMD socket 7 or Super Socket 7 processor for dirt cheap! Then overclock that. No offense, but the p75 is pretty much an antique.
I'm a newbie myself,
Good Luck! ;-)

Oh..One moreVERY IMPORTANT Thing. The Bios will be grossly out of date. This alone may make a new processor not feasable.

It's probably best to leave the P-75 alone. It's a museum piece, wait 'till The Antiques Roadshow comes to a city near you!

Oh dear. The preceding is a bit insulting, sorry! Really, the only thing you can do to improve the performance of this machine is add Ram. The trouble is, Simms are APITA. Is this a laptop? If so, going to http://www.crucial.com may help. You can see if adding Ram is even possible. If it's a desktop, Simms come in at least five flavors. Usually, all the Simms must be identical. Buying Simms at retail is guaranteed to make your wallet scream in protest.
