after reading this forum, I must say that I'm a proud owner of a P3 700.

Here is some specks:
p3 700 @ 945
1x128 133
1x256 133
ATi Radeon 64 DDR ViVo
ASUS P3V4X

anywayz...the core voltage is 1.80...I think (im currently at work) and I want to push the chip higher and higher....If I go higher than 945, windows will boot but when on the desktop, it gives a blue screen....arg !
The cpu is cooled by golden orb, and the clock generator has a heatsink attached...plenty of cooling in the case too....

What can I change more to let the p3 run faster ??
I forgot what the CAS settings were...but it starts with 3
Do I need to switch USB off ??

anyways, lemme know and give me some tips...

1.9v seems to be the magic voltage to hit a gig!
Just thought I would let ya know.

This board is gettin mighty slow these days don't ya think?

Also make sure you lap the Gorb!
When I had one it helped drop the cpu temps by 4c!
Gave me another 25mhz,It has a nice little bump in the middle where it was machind that needs removing, plus it wasn't all that flat.

wos that about the gorb ?

i applied thermal compound between the Gorb and the cpu...and the fan runs at 4500 rpm

Hi , I got my PIII700E@1050 150 FBS PC133 cas 222 7/9 at default vcore with a Geforce Annihilator 256 pro / on a CUSL2-C. I suggest you set your ram back a little like cas 322 7/9 . What do you have for cooling and what are your temp's ?? What is the vcore voltage? Sometimes you will have to up the vcore to be able to get stable , since you can boot in windows before it freezes it looks like that your cpu needs a bit more power , up it by one notch and see what happens!

Sorry i did't see your specs , What are the errors the blue screen gives you ? It's a strange problem because when windows give a blue screen upping the vcoe by one notch should get you to post windows normal. Do you have the latest bios and other drivers for the devices you have on your system ,?

I think the vcore is at 1.8...

and I will reset the cas settings...
I dont know about the temps, I will also install ASUS probe, and see....

again, I'm at work now, and cant wait to get home....ARG !!! 5 hours encounting....

thanks guys, I will get back on this topic asap

Take off your Golden orb[Gorb] and put a sheet of sandpaper on a piece of glass[220 grit or so]then carefully, and evenly, sand the matting surface of the heatsink until all of the anodizing[gold color]comes off, then do some more sanding with a finer paper[like 400 grit]until the 220 scrathes are gone, then one more time with something like 600 or 800 grit!

This will make sure that your heatsink is flat, and will make for good contact with the cpu die!

It's well worth the effort!!!

Ok m8...

will give it a go.....when i get home...

how about this thing with the USB...someone told me that USB doesnt really like when the mobo is oc'ed (?)

thanx again guys....

If your not running any thing off the USB port you can trun it off. I have mine on and dont notice a problem. I guess it frees up a IRQ and maybe with some mobo that helps?

Oh and some of how high you can OC has to do with luck of getting a good chip. Also quality of your other components. I had a p3 700 that ran 1078 on my setup. I sold it to a guy and he can only get it to 1025 on his setup. so...... Later

Just try turning off usb until you need it,that will eliminate it out as a problem.
Although I've never had a problem with usb, even at 160fsb\40mhz pci

Obviously raising your voltage is the key ingredient to stabilizing your overclocked system. However the down side is that it generates more heat as your probably well aware. I've seen no mention of your temps, idle and under load.

PIII 700@1030 w/alpha, 23-25C idle, 35-37C under laod
