I have a question that hopefully some of the hardware GURU's here can help me with.

I understand that a higher latency(within reason) on PCI devices can help them use more of the available bandwidth of the PCI bus.
But how does this transfer to CPU Cache?? I know with RAM, with the cas latency set to a lower number it will perform better, is it the same for the L2 cache???

Lower would seem to be better, but I could be wrong...
If you know, lemme know.

Possibly the best way to clear up this issue is to have a look at Adrian's Bios Guide. It's quite thorough. Please see: http://www.rojakpot.com . Yah, the pic of Billy Bully Boy tells the truth. Good job!

Good site. Lots of information.

I still did'n find anything on changing the Latency - Is lower better or higher better?

I found some info here on changing the L2 latency... Now I just need to be able to test it...

Is latency a factor with Coppermine chips?? Some of the programs report 0 latency for my setup and none let me change latency to play to try to get better stability!

I have a PIII 700 oc'd to 933.

Shooting from the hip here...

L2 cache on coppermines is on-die rather than off-die like the PII and old Athlon. I'm not sure that you can change the parameters. Some guru help here would be nice about now.

Re memory latency, lower is better unless your system becomes unstable. I would think the same would hold true for L2 as well.

What I found out in my journey is that lower is better(provided that it is stable at that speed). Although not sure how much of a gain there is...
CuMines have a latency of 0 by default (cannot go faster)
