I recently made a post for my friend who runs a computer using windows ME. His computer would crash whenever playing a video game. Turns out he got a new video card for xmas and didn’t uninstall the old drivers from the old card. I told him to back his stuff up, reformat, do a clean install and install his vid card. He did that and it worked fine. The problem is, now, he can’t use a voice program we use to communicate while playing a game. The program is called Ventrilo, it can be found at www.ventrilo.com. When he tries to install Ventrilo, it gives him this message:

the installation package cannot be installed by the windows installer service you must install a windows service pack that contains a newer version of the windows installer service

he said his only option is to click “OK” and after that nothing happens. Any ideas on why this is happening and how he can fix it so we can use ventrilo again? Currently we are using a program called Teamspeak, which is ok, but Ventrilo is a lot better and we’d like to use that.

Windows Update will fix that for you.
