I know this is a dumb question but I don't know tha answer, so I ask. My system is a P4 NW at 3.02 (18x1680) with a 9800Pro and a Soundblaster Live Platinum. Almost all the time I have to listen to games with headphones instead of my Z-560's (bummer :() so i have never played with my sound settings in games much. In the game Postal2 there is a setting to choose between Hardware 3D and Software 3D in the Sounds settings. When I choose Hardware, I get an extreem performance "hit", almost to a crawl in big fire-fights with lots of different sounds. I have it in my uninformed mind that when choosing Hardware then the Soundblaster should take over. But I am thinking that it is getting done by the cpu since I am getting the performance hit. If I enable Software 3D everything is fine and beatiful. Does that mean that the Soundblaster is doing the sounds in Software mode and the cpu has to do it in Hardware mode?? That makes no sense to me?
