my system celly566@850, abit be6, abitslocket3,golden orb, thermal grease, 128generic pc100 ram, 2gig wd hd, 13gig wd hd 7200rpm, voodoo3 2000pci, sb16 isa, usr 56k,
i have 2case fans blowing air in and out . EVERYTHING runs fine in windows for hrs, and i ran seti at home for 2hrs and cpu test for 3hrs and sisoft sandra for 2hrs. stable as heck. once i run counterstrike for 5-10 mins, it crashes bak to windows. doesnt matter wat voltage im using 1.7-1.9 could the problem be my old 2gig hd? another thing, how can i check my cpu temp? i didnt install my thermal sensor that came with the be6, its busted, it always rreads n/a in bios and -48 in mbm. my system temp is around 24 idle and 28during high stress. what should my cpu temp be about since i can t chek it. is there a way to chek it? and why is it crashing wen i play cs, but stable at other times? thanx guys
ps.
when 566@707 (83fsb), stable at default 1.7cc0 even in counterstrike.
thanx

Sounds more like a video card driver issue more than a cpu issue. Check for upgraded drivers for your voodoo card and check to see if it is sharing irq's with another device.

good luck

Yea, it is definetly your video card, maybe not drivers, it might be getting to hott, or the card can't handle the bus speeds your feeding it. Try turning down the divider. Or adding a fan to the card.

Well, if you are changing the PCI divider to 3, then none of the other products should have a problem, as they are all running at spec. Update your bios to the latest and make sure the jumper on the slotket is set to "coppermine." If you are not chaniging the PCI divider to 3, that IS the problem. You might try removing the ISA card, just for grins, to see if it might be causing the problem.

how do i set and chek my irq? sisoft sandra says my voodoo is on irq10 and the next item on the list says irq 10 "irq holder for pci steering" ,..is there supposed to be two for irq 10? where in bios do i change or chek? and how do i set my ram to 3-3-3. i hear its much more stable like that..where in bios again
thanx

The PCI divider must be /3 since I cannot imagine a hard-drive booting a PC from a 50Mhz Host bus very easily.

Therefore PCI bus is not an issue. The Voodoo 3 is okay 41.5Mhz PCI so standard 33Mhz PCIB is no problem.

I hope ur not running DX 8.0 (also known at present as Donkey X 8). There is not point since there are no supportive games yet. The only people who should use it are windows 2000 users who need more 3D performance since it patches up the rush job port of DX7.0 that came with the opsys.

If you do have the latest Voodoo 3 WHQL drivers and DX 7.0a however, you should have no problems on this front.

I believe tha your problem may be - an unreceptive chip, or a lack of burn in.
