hi, i have been reading and have read tons on overclocking but the problem im having is i really dont know what exactly to do.
well i know my bios pretty well i have a asus p4g8x deluxe
so if someone has this same MB and has over clocked it could you tell me what to do?
i know set cpu speed to manual then i can adjust thecpu external frequency but do i need to match something else to it?
i have a p4 2.53 ghz.
so far i set the thing on manual and then instead of 133 external freq i put it to 139 and then i put the agp/pci to 69.something

so is this right? what else do i do?

ok so i see when i raise my ext freq it raises my cpu mhz
i got it up to 166 ext freq @ 3153 mhz and raised the vcore voltage 1.25 to make it 6.50 as i got higher then that i started to have problems
i set the agp to 66.33
is this sounding like its right?

wait, whats teh vcore?? the vcore shouldn't be 6.5........ thats really high........ lower it back to default and see how fast you can oc without changing it. Also the agp/pci frequency should be left alone and locked, if they run out of spec, you may see stability problems.

ok, i didnt have a problem with temps when i had the vcore at 6.75 but it was unstable anyways.
the highest i can go without upping the vcore was 149 ext freq and the mhz was 2831
when i upped the vcore .050 i got it up to 155 ext freq and 2944 mhz

am i going about this wrong?

v-core 6 LOL
i think i read this whole sight but couldnt get the info like what i was looking for.
i raised the ext freq 1 number at a time until it went beserko, then i would raise the voltage up, when i did that it seemed ok again, so i kept doing that until i got scared and set it all back to auto.
i wrote each one down on paper as a reference incase i ever figure out just what it is im doing.

well just keep the voltage at stock and oc to the fastest and most stable speed it can go. Run prime95 or something to check stability i believe, then after you can trying upping the vcore in very small increments and see if you can oc a little furthur. I doubt you can raise the vcore up to 6volts.... because thats EXTREMELy high lol unless i'm wrong. Just run prime95 to check stability at your highest speed, monitor your temperature using MBM and if it becomes unstable, just downclock it a little until it becomes stable again.
