Helloooooo,
So I was very satisfied with my overclock (see sig) and was having no problems running memtest at those settings. But, Prime95 just wasn't having it, failing nearly instantly. I started over: loaded BIOS defaults, everything at stock speeds, turned off all unused peripherals.... and Prime95 failed immediately. What the heck? I don't understand what it could be, my full system looks like this:
Antec Sonata 380W TruPower
A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 REV 1007
2 x 512MB Buffalo CH-5 Winbond in Dual Channel 8-3-3-2.5T
AMD 3000+ (400 FSB version) with TT Smart Fan II
20GB Western Digital for Windows only
2 X 80 GB Seagate Baraccuda in RAID O
Powercolor 9600 Pro
Samsung CDRW/DVD
Plextor DVD+R/RW
My temps have never been a problem, even with the overclock they never reached 40*C. I'm wondering if it is the dual channel that Prime doesn't like. Maybe you folks can tell me...
Maybe it isn't such a big deal, but I don't feel safe without Prime telling me so. Thanks for reading...
