View Full Version : Setting FSB
I am new at this overclocking!! I have a Dell Dimension T500 CPU 500MHz internal/100MHz external. With a 512KB pipelined write back. What I am wanting to know is how do I set the FSB up to 115 or 120? I have know idea where to start!!
I also have another Dell Dimension that has a 700MHz Int. and 100 MHz Ext. with a 256 KB advanced transfer Cache! can I set the FSB up to 115 or 102 and how do I do that?
The first step to overclocking any machine, is figuring out what you have. Dell, and most other oems use motherboards from a variety of sources, many customized to their specifications. You need to visually inspect the motherboard, and try to find any numbers or names that may be printed on it. There are often stickers around the PCI slots, or between the last slot and the edge of the board that may aid in identification. Look for the bios chip as well- it is probably the only chip on the MB that is "socketed" (a plastic base underneath) and record any numbers on it's label.
Once you have this information, come back and we'll see what we can come up with.
Well here we go Ilook the motherboard over no name brand anywhere!!I did find some numbers F139761 is printed in the board found two stickers AA722394-109 then the other 5335T-12461-994-009L Found two chips INTEL PCI set _ FW82371EB _ F9301J19 _ SL37M !! Now the other chip INTEL_AGP set_FW82443BX_LP35HC03_SL2VH !! I even teyed to get the name brand from Dell they said it was made just for Dell .
Hmmm- this doesn't look promising. You might try putting the numbers into a search engine. Not the chip numbers because they would probably be misleading since the chipset ICs are sold by the millions. Dogpile or Google might turn up something.
