View Full Version : Filled em up!
I have an entertainment rig that has 6 hdd in it. 2-120 gig, 2-80 gig, and 2-60gig.
I finally filled up all the hdds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 120 gigs are copies of all my dvds and full length movies recorded off the premium channels on cable. 1 80 gig is all music videos. 1 80 gig is recorded tv shows such as Simpsons, Battlestar Galactica, History Channel shows, etc... The 2 60 gigs are all music ripped from my cd collection that has been accumulating since cds came out!
I think I need 2 more external 200 gigs now!

I'd also like to know. I was under the impression that it is legal as long as you only keep it for yourself and don't sell/share it, but I'm not sure.

If it weren't VCRs wouldn't be allowed to have a record feature, as that's it's only purpose.

The fact that you have over 1/2terabyte of media is AMAZING, what sort of music?
I do not share anything. That pc is not even hooked up to my internal home network. I use it for "MY" entertainment purposes only. It's the same as recording on vhs or with a dvd recorder.
time for a dvd burner, unless you really 'need' all of those dvd rips etc on hd. If you really 'need' to have all that video etc on disk, then I would go external drives usb, firewire, which is more expensive than getting a dvd burner /plus media to burn it to.

you can get dual format dvd burners nowdays for $100 or less with rebate, which is way cheaper than an external 80mb+ hdd

Not that much cheaper when considering the disks, plus it is way more convient, esp. with lots of disks/files.
I want them on the hdds. This pc will be going into the den. Wireless keyboard and mouse and pc hooked into my new Panasonic projector and home theater system. All of my fav movies/videos/songs only a click away!
You might want to consider some form of backup anyway, if you loose a 120GB drive... thats a lot of data gone. I envy all your storage space though :p
That's a good idea. Most of the movies I own. Any I lose that were recorded can always be recorded again. I do not feel like backing up 400+ movies! That's a lot of discs! and time. Took me over 2 months to get everything together and I could only guess at how long it would take me to back them up<cringes>.
I would at least back up to DVD or somethng. If you lose a drive yer kinda hung. while it may not be a click away at least it would not be lost
