Ok, I am trying to do a fresh install of winxp pro on a brand new system. When setup copies the files, I always get an error saying that "article.chm" cannot be found/copied, so my only option is to hit esc to continue. Then setup will continue (usually) to almost the end with like 2 minutes left where it is "saving settings" then it will pop up with a blue screen and a page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error with the code 0x50. This will force me to reboot and everything from the install is gone.
After doing some searching I've found this "The Stop 0x50 message indicates that requested data was not in memory. The system generates an exception error when using a reference to an invalid system memory address. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause Stop 0x50 messages." from: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/reskit/prmd_stp_ccgm.asp
At first I thought it might be some sort of hard drive failure, but I tried another one and it is doing hte same thing.
So, is this because of my faulty windowsxp disc? It can't find the requested data b/c it's not in memory since windows never copied that file? or is something else wrong with my main ram maybe? Everything is brand new (except hard drives), I'm using mushkin lvl2 3500 ram, abit AI7. I don't have another xp disc to try.
what to do what to do, i just want to get this damn system working. help!
