i tried it and it didnt work!
what should i do?
i have abit bx6 rev1 bios qs(latest)
566 fcpga (cC0)= $65
gorb=$10
You did get a Coppermine compatable slocket, didn't you?
A FC-PGA (Socket 370) chip will not fit on a slot 1 board without one.
There are three vital things you need to look for when getting one of these for this application.
First and foremost, it MUST be FC-PGA Coppermine compatable. These chips (566 Celeron included) have a different "pin out" than the older PPGA Celerons. The FC-PGA version slocket will support both PPGA and FC-PGA chips, by means of a jumper mounted on the slocket.
Second, is voltage adjustability. The good ones will support voltage adjustments, usually from 1.3 to 3.3 volts. When you overclock these chips, you will need to raise the core voltage slightly over default to acheive a higher FSB setting. (this is how to overclock locked multiplier intel processors)
Third, get one that supports 66, 100, AND 133 FSB, via jumpers mounted on the slocket.
Great choice on the chip. The 566 is one of the best Celerons going for overclocking. Thats a good choice of board, as well. You should be able to get that to run at 850 MHz without too much difficulty.
I personally own a Soltek SL02A++, and an ABIT !!! slocket. Both feature all of the above mentioned prerequisites. Other good choices are the Iwill, and MSI Master 2.0.
If you have any more questions, ask. Thats what the forum is all about.
Good Luck!!

i have abit slocket and another non brand name slocket but both of them are not working
i think my motherboard cant go up to 8.5 multiplier
8.5x66=561
when i checked in the softmenu, my motherboard had only upto x8 multiplier
i guess i have to get 533a fcpga
The multiplier is locked by the chip. The motherboard doesn't control it.
Can you check the model number of your Abit slocket to see if it is compatible with the Coppermine?
Newbie, depending on which motherboard you have, sometimes a good quality slocket adapter (as Mr. B so aptly suggested) will work even if the BIOS don't support higher multipliers.
Also, some motherboards might have an updated BIOS available that you can flash. CAUTION: if you mess up when flashing the BIOS, then you're screwed big time. I've successfully updated the BIOS on two different Abit boards, but I've also heard horror stories from other people with failed attempts. Not for novices or the faint of heart.
Of course, you can't go wrong with a C-533a either... with probably a 99.9% success rate of hitting 100 fsb for 800 MHz with average cooling and maybe a slight bump in voltage.

i tried hmonitor but i get only case temp and get cpu temp (XXX)
I've got a bencmarking program (can't remember where I got it) that thinks my Celeron II 600 @ 1009 is a P /// 933. I know what you mean.
I WISH it was a P /// 933............
Wish even more the # 3 was still with us.........newbietweaker, did you see my post in "General Discussion"?
Sad, sad day..........
