I just got my new cooler for my PIII 850 FCPGA on an abit bx133 mobo, its a hedgehog. I had a GOrb and it was running @ 927 with the default voltage 1.7. Now this morning i tried to put it at 986mhz (116x8.5) and i got some errors and stuff so i put it down to 961 (or something real close) and it worked fine, then i tried 970 and i'd get errors again so i raised the voltage and tried 978, it worked but when i tried 986 again i'd get the same errors. I want to get this thing over a gig but i don't want to pump to much voltage in it and making the temps to high.

Some of the errors were: "windows protection error, system halted"; and some of them were something like: "cannot find file ..... or it is damaged, run setup to find and install file" i never did though because it was just caused by the overclocking i figured.

Also should i lower my pci speed from 1/3 to 1/4 or it does it not make a differance?

The other only problem i have is my vid card (asus v7700 deluxe 32mb ddr) on the AGP it only has 2/3 or 1/1, is there any program that can lower my fsb on my vid card. (but for a side note it's nice when you get like 350 fps on quake III)

Thanks

If there is any chance that your PCI cards are working at "fsb divided by 3" (1/3), there is no reason to change that divider to (1/4), as it will decrease performance somewhat. What PCI devices are you using?

Try cranking the voltage up some more, I'm sure the hedgehog will help cool the CPU enough, even with higher voltages.

Don't worry too much about the 2/3 divider for you video card. Most GeForce cards can easily handle high speeds. Mine has no problems, even when it is overclocked with the tweak, and I don't think you will have any problems either, and surely not as long as your FSB doesn't go higher than maybe 125 or so.

Your hard drive is corrupting files due to the bus speed. This happens when they are going over what they can handle. Why it is doing it now and not before, I don't know...but is the classic case.

If you are hitting a 150MHz FSB then you definately want a 1/4 PCI divider. If you're using 1/3 on this then I'm surprised you can even get as far into Windows as you have. AGP runs normally at 66MHz so you want to stay as close to that as possible. Running at 150MHz you want about 1/2 if it's there.

I think you should ignore my post...I just woke up and thought that his chip was running at 133Mhz. Not reading well at the moment, heh.

The only pci devices i have are my sound card & ethernat card. so i guess it wont do anything to those. I'll give it a shot tonight.
