View Full Version : p3 or athlon
ok i may be leaving myself open 4 countless arguments ear but ill read all the replies and make a informed choice .
at the mo i have a p3 900 and am gona get rid .
hear is the question , do i get another intell chip or do i make the change and go 4 an athlon? as i never had an athlon i dont know if they overclock well or not . i know allot of you lot say they do, but as i already av a p3 board would it be cheaper in the long run to stick to intell (would the bennafits outweigh the cost) if i got an athlon? its a bloody minefeild .
thanks in advance...

i suggest get another Pentium III 'coz it'll save you more bucks than going for a complete system overhaul.
if you do...you probably max out around 1GHz...
Intel-based systems are less likely to encounter problems than AMD-based systems.

athlon all the way! all the compatabilty probs died with the kx 133 chipset. if you go and get your self a good blue-core 950 you can do 1.3GHz esay on a kt7 of 1.4 on a kt7a.

If thats true maybe you could help me isolate the problem on taking my Duron 700 blue up to 1gig. I can do 980 Unstable, 901 stable.
Email me if you want to help.
Thanks
I'm runnin a TBird 750 @ 1.05. I'd trade it for my old PIII 500 @ 750 and ole day.
