I'm looking for ppl with OC-Experiences with the P3 1000.
Anything from speed, temp, vcore, cooling etc.
I've had mine up and running stable @ 1200 with the standard cooler, but since the bios and the asus probe shows a difference in 5-10C im now running @ 1000 mhz again until i figure out which shows the right temp.
So any experiences would be highly 'preciated.

Thanx
Moose

Can it be true that I'm the only guy in this forum that OCs a P3 1000 mhz??? C'mon guys!!
Well if nobody will tell me 'bout their experiences I'll just tell 'bout mine :-)
I'm running @1150 with retail cooler and I've made a big blowhole in the casing just above the cpu and placed a 80 mm fan there sucking out hot air. Windows idle temp is 33-34C and full load gaming is 45C. Any comments on this. Is it too hot?

Any ideas of how fast this baby will go with proper cooling?

That doesn't sound to bad to me, actually. I would be a little concerned if it started knocking on 50C, but if 45C is its max then looks good. That chip will run pretty warm considering it's already at its limit being a 1GHz.

I'd say you got ahold of a pretty good chip. If that's what you get with only the stock fan then I would look into getting some better cooling as I bet it would go a bit further with no gain in temps or maybe slightly lower. Wou8ld get some better cooling regardless just to protect that thing. 1.2GHz is a nice accomplishment.

I enjoy reading your thread. 1.2GHz of Intel power sure is nice. I would expect the temperatures to drop by at least 6-8C using an Alpha PAL 6035. Also, rather than sucking out the hot air, which should rise btw. it may redude temp further if you reverted the blow-hole fan and drew in cold air. Did you try that?

Yo

P.s. Which mobo are you using?

My mobo is a CUSL2-C

I haven't tryed blowing in air but I will do to see if it makes any difference.

I'm back up @ 1200 and it feels like this baby will go further :)
I'll report in again when I've done some testing.

Now i turned the fan so that it blows air in instead of sucking it out. It now idles at 31C and hits 41C under full load gaming and it's less noisy :)
But now my mobo is a bit warmer. This might not be the right forum but I'll give it a try anyway. My mobo is now 30C under both idle and gaming. It was something like 26C when the fan was sucking out air.
Is 30C to much?

30c should be fine for motherboard temps. My system temps are around 32c and my cpu temp is around 33c at an idle and 36c under a full load.

This is with a PIII 800E @ 960 with a voltage of 1.85. w\PIII Alpha cooler. Fans sucking air off of the cpu. Also have two 3" intake fans in the front. One up in the drive bays blowing over my two harddrives and one it the bottom of the case. Then I have one 3" fan in the back exhausting air.

I also have a fanbus I have built to switch each fan individually from 12v to 7v. This is nice considering the wife really hates the noise of the fans! So I can switch to 7v when idling and cutt the noise level in half.

Being a p3 1gig owner myself,I'll give you some info on my temps\setup!

1Ghzeb@1165\1.9v[seems to need 1.9v but this chips only 3 weeks old]
will do 1200 but needs 1.95v and is stable in everything except prime95,so I'm gonna run her at 1165 for a while!
Cpu Idle temp is @27c give or take a degree or 2.
Cpu load temp is @35c " " "
Mobo temps @25c

Lotsa fans in this thing as well,120mm&80mm on side sucking air in,2-80mm in rear blowing out,HDCooler in top drive bay with 3-8cfm 40mm fans blowing out as well as an 80mm in the lower front of my case sucking in a little more cool air!All wiring is loomed\tied nicely to help with the airflow.

Alpha PAL6035 heatsink and fan.
486 heatsink\fan on northbridge chip.

Memory quality is an issue at anything over 150 fsb,not many sticks will do cas2 over 150 fsb so I have to set my timings of course to 3,3,3,6.

Do you know where to find instructions to build such a thing? I was wondering if it was possible but I guess that answers my question!
The question now is, how do I do it?

No problem. Just follow the link below. It will give you full instructions on how to build a fanbus. One thing though and you'll no what i'm talking about when you read it. Instead of using 2v led's, I used twelve volt (red and green). That way you illiminate the need for the resistor network. Also I built mine with only 3 switch's and 6 lights instead of 4 switch's and 8 lights.

Have Fun and I hope this helps.
