hey, since way back, I've been a devout AMDist, but have decided this once to make a foray into the realm of Intel (before AMD overtakes them completely =) for the sake of SMP. I plan on building this system, and I'd appreciate it if anyone would tell me where some potential problems might be:
Abit VP6
300W PSU - need more? Might go w/400 if I do peltiers
2x PIII 1000@1125 (150 FSB) - Gorbs and ducts
256MB VCRAM
2x WestDig 40GB, IDE RAID 0
ASUS geForce2 GTS 64MB, RAM o/c'ed to 230MHz, maybe rig up a Gorb
One of those fancy turbine things under the video card
SBLive! 5.1
RealTek cheap 10/100 NIC

for one don't use the gorbs, i had it and it worked but not to well, and for your vid card get a Blord(i think it's called), a blue orb.
check this site out for some good socket coolers: http://www.ocworkbench.com/articles/Shoot/page1.htm , they did a real nice job testing over 15 heatsinks and fans

you know, the more I read, the better pelts+H2O look.
one you go to water you never go back... your mind actually CHANGES
If you decide use a peltier, then you might consider a 400w power supply. Forget the Gorb, Alphas and GlobalWins are much better for air cooling.

If you can wait for the latter part of this year, AMD will be doing multiprocessor stuff...
If you can't wait, here IMO on your specs:
Abit VP6 Good board
300W PSU - need more? Might go w/400 if I do peltiers If your running 2 CPUs OC'd I'd get a 400 as a minimum
2x PIII 1000@1125 (150 FSB) - Gorbs and ducts If you can find 2 p/// Ghz that'll overclock to 1125, then IMO you'll be a very lucky man. Drop the Orb, tho and get a pair of FOP32/38s or Alpha PALs
256MB VCRAM Ain't VC RAM expensive for the additional boost it gives?
2x WestDig 40GB, IDE RAID 0 Not bad choice. My personal preference is IBM, but AFAIK WDs are built in the same factory as IBMs
ASUS geForce2 GTS 64MB, RAM o/c'ed to 230MHz, maybe rig up a Gorb Mebbe a Pro will get that high (if your're lucky) but a std GF2 w/ 6ns RAM is struggling at 400 DDR.
One of those fancy turbine things under the video card LOL
SBLive! 5.1 Good card, a mate of mine's got one.
RealTek cheap 10/100 NIC Not sure about the "CHEAP" NIC at overclocked PCI bus speeds. Some folk report cheap NICs as being the holding-back factor in what would be a decent OC.
OS: Win NT or Win 2K. Otherwise 2 CPU's aint worth it, as 9x and all derivitives can only use 1 CPU.

I'd pay a bit more for the vc, I want something I can take to 150+ @ CAS2

Me again,
B4 spending $$$'s on a H2O setup, try it with air cooling 1st. That way if you feel there's more from the setup, you can spend the cash once the system is setup and running at full whack.
PS. If you're gonna try for 150FSB, active cooling (Blue Orb,etc.) would be advantageous in place of the BX-Greenie.
