Been running for around 3 months now without any clamps on my cpu block hose barbs. Has never leaked a drop but am starting to wonder, am I living on borrowed time? Barbs are metal and tube is thin wall PVC.

Is your rig worth the extra security of hose clamps? They're only a couple bucks. You might be ok without them, but if I were you I'd at least feel nervous.

Take a look at the hose on the barbs. If the hoses are pushed on as far as you left it when you hooked it all up, then you've got nothing to worry about.

it depends, but yeah, i always use clamps due to an incident a freind of mine had....... water + electricity + expensive equiptment = not good and lots of sparks

Depends, if it was really hard to get on, like even after heating the tubing, and you had to stretch it a lot, then you may be fine.

But if you didn't even have to heat it to fit it on the barb, it is a very good idea to spend $3 on clamps to save a few hundred bucks on a new vid card or something, not to mention a huge PITA.

Its cheap insurance, you should be able to get them pretty easily to. Just unscrew them, put them on and rethread the banding part and voilla.

I'm with SunRed-
While I have run for fairly short testings periods without clamps, they are just cheap insurance.

A few bucks and a few minutes will far reduce the chances of developing a leak.

Well worth it, I think.

if not hose clamps at least use a zip tie

Thanks for the comments, you've convinced me. This weekend plan to throw on some zip ties as suggested by Simpleman. Current situatation is tempting fate too much. I know what its like to lose a mb from water contact and dont want to be out of pocket on another one, likely along with cpu and vid card and how knows what else if one of those connections were to blow.

Can he sue you if he ever gets a leak? :p You are probably right, but it's a fairly bold thing to say... 'never going to have problems.'

It is the cheapest part of watercooling so why not get it . Just wrap alittle electrical tape around the tube before you put the clamps on to protect the tubing.
