What does this do?
Do I want to change it? If so, to what (mine defaults to 32)?
Could this improve my system's performance?

The only timing setting I've ever head of from posts is the ram timing.
So far it seems that the majority of people use tight timmings running 5:4 cpu to ram ratio with BH-5, it seems to increase their Front Side Bus for more speed.

I posted this in another thread about Storage/RAID Performance, enjoy the READ (http://www.lostcircuits.com/hdd/hdd5/):D

Sonny,
Excellent - thanks much for the read :attn:
So it seems that I in fact "should" start playing some with this value, right?
I downloaded HD Tach and here is my READ run on default values for my Maxtor Diamond Plus 60Gb, 7200, 8MB, ATA133:

and here is the one for my RAID 0 with two WD 80GB 7200, 8BM, ATA100 on a Promise TX4000 Raid Card on the PCI bus (66Mhz slot):

What would you recommend I do to improve these scores? :D

I also know that if you're having troubles with sound cards (esp the soundblasters) you should increase the pci latency to 64.

Start playing with the available parameters & keep detailed notes on the performance gains/losses & look out for speed mismatches.
