View Full Version : Please Help Me I Beg Of You All
Which motherboard is the best for my P3 1gig fc-page 133mhz bus. Are there any intel based ones?? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! HELP.
In my humble opinion, Abit and Asus are pretty good motherboards brands if you're trying to overclock. These are available in both VIA chipsets and Intel chipsets, I believe.

i use an abit bx133 raid mobo, it's great for overclocking and has 4 ide ports(2 are ata 100) where you can put up to 8 ide devices 4 being ata 100.
I agree the abit bx133 raid is probabally the best board for you as the bx chip is still faster than any of the via or intel 8XX chips

How about the ASUS CUSL2?
expensive and not as fast as a bx chip

This isn't as true as it once was, Phil. Additionally, the BX chipset will not officially support the 133MHz bus speed, as you well know. Although the Abit BX133 is a fine example of the breed (perhaps THE finest), the BX chipset is mature technology and no longer being supported as fervently by the manufacturers. If I were recommending a board to support a 1GHz P3 (which is what the post asked for) I would not hesitate to recommend an i815 Solano board. Both Abit and Asus make very good boards based on this chipset, as do a number of other manufacturers. Yes, it's a little more costly initially, but will likely save him money in the long run.

Yes I agree with the idea of going with an Asus CUSL-2,or maybe an Abit SE6, I believe it is the good
ewest 133mhz Socket 370 Abit board?
Yep, I'd say that for raw speed, it's a close toss up between the BX vs. i815 chipsets nowadays. If you want a slot one, go with a BX, if you want socket 370, the i815 is for you. I have an Abit SE6 and love everything about it except that the fsb settings are maybe too great of intervals. I could run 115 stable, but not 120. If there had been a 118 MHz setting, I might of made a gig with my C-566. I think the Asus is much more tweakable, but I'm hearing more and more about Asus having poor product support lately.

The product support issue that was posted on the main page occurred in Australia. My impression with the mobo manufacturers is that they ALL have service hiccups at some time. Choose a reputable vendor who will stand behing the product (even if it costs slightly more) and don't worry about it. We have enough things to worry about already! Neither Abit nor Asus is going anywhere anytime soon, and BOTH have had reliability and service issues in the past. Pick a good product, keep the BIOS up to date, and drink your OJ in the morning. You will live a long and happy life this way.
