Cool. That should be fun. And so soon.
sounds good, but too long til it happens. the 939 chips won't ship until mid april.
ordered my 3000 and Shuttle AN50R today. that should tide me over pretty well until 939 :)

Story is -- which may or may not be true -- they're ready to go on that date, not just be announced on that date.
But this is only important for people looking to spend a lot of money on top rate processors.
I'd expect Newcastle 939 to have default multiplier + unlocked lower multipliers below default.
Who here knows what the multiplier is for 3700+ Newcastle 939's please?
well they are all 200 bus so just take the clock speed and figure the multi from that.
3400 is 11x200 1mb
3200 is 10x200 1mb
3000 is 10x200 512k
FX51 is 11x200 1mb (i think... ?)
i read an anandtech article written just a few days (4-5) ago about a review of a convention and they said that 939 chips will be announced march 29th but won't be ready to ship til mid april.
Thats should make for a good upgrade time after I buy my mach one on my b-day. Should drop the prices of some of the high$ 64bit cpu's to a range where I could possible afford one.

Anadtech is where you heard it from? I'd say that's more reliable than rumors I heard so it's good three months before you can get your hands on one if you're planning.
Sorry, I was actually asking about the 3700+ multiplier, is it going to be 12.5?

what is the clockspeed of the 3700? i figure its 2.4-2.45ghz if so then its 12x - 12.5x.
