My Cel II 633@950 runs just fine at 1,8V, if i try 103fsb or 105fsb it will boot into windows without a problem but as soon as i run some programs blue screens come popping up... even if i set core at 1,9V i get the same result... temps have never been any higher then 47C... (avg of 41C full load)...

any thoughts? (could this be a memory problem?)

tnhX!

Someone should jump in here and suggest a better heatsink and fan. I actually had better results with the Intel heatsink and fan with thermal paste than with the orb I bought.

I now have an Alpha PAL 6035 and I am happy with it. It allowed more speed than the Intel sink and fan.

I've got a pair of Celerons with Gorbs on them, The faster I've gotten them, the more I've "outgrown" them.

Just sent out the $$ for an Alpha PEP66T. This seems to be the best one for this app, from what I've read here.

The other Alpha mentioned above is also quite good, GlobalWin makes a few good ones as well.

I'm not entirely familiar w/ your motherboard. Is that a Slot 1 or S370 mb? Some boards have clearance issues with the larger heatsinks. Take a look in the "Cooling" Section for tips there.

The Coppermine core of the C II is starting to reach its peak starting where you are now (950). Try a better heatsink/fan, and bump the vcore to 1.95v. That might get you to 103/105 FSB. If not, you might be able to drop your voltage, at the very least. You might just have hit max for that chip, but try the above first.

Good luck.

upped voltage to 1,95V... wasn't stable @ 105fsb, now trying 103fsb... still, prime95 sometimes gives an error... games not always stable... burning it in might help?? (temps now reach an absolute max of 49C)(it's a s370...)

Heat problem now! My C566 would start getting unstable in the mid-40 degree range. You need to drop load temps back down into the 30's if possible.

what sort of cooling do you suggest???
peltiers beats fans? (would i need an extra psu for that or would my 300W do?)
can they be combined???

I have no experience in peltier cooling, but I do know you have to be careful with condensation. I "think" you can run a small peltier off a 300w PS. By the way, a peltier requires a good heatsink and fan on top of it anyway (or water cooling block if you want no fan). Peltiers work by cooling one surface and heating the back side which you then have to cool off.

However, you can sure do a lot with just air cooling too. Since you have a socket 370 check at the Alpha PAL or the GlobalWin FOP32. Lots of good coolers on the market right now. I've found that lapping the H/S and using the best thermal paste you can afford also helps. Good luck!
