Welcome to the Forum!

First, your links were incomplete and did not work. This is what the cpu link should have been: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-418&catalog=343&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=1

The only thing that I see that you might want to reconsider is the RAM. Since new Thoroughbreds and Bartons are multiplier locked, any hope you might have of overclocking will depend on the ram. PC3200 should be a minimum. I will not get into the single versus dual channel debate...

Do you have a case and power supply picked out? The power supply is as important to building a stable system as the motherboard and cpu.

i second the ram, 3200 is a minimum.
oh yes, welcome to the forums and i hope you decide to stay, not be a one-2 post wonder :p

i also hope you decide to OC, my first oc was just today and after spending a month or 2 here i had completely changed what i wanted, and i'm glad of it...my system is at last twice as fast already than it was gonna be, for the same cash.

yeah, a good power supply is essential for a good OC, but the price you pay for quality parts pays you back every minuit you use your computer....

Agreed, a good power supply is extremely important. I would recommend a Fortron 350W, very high quality, and very cheap in terms of price as well.
Also, instead of the Maxtor 60GB SATA drive you have picked out, I would recommend this Hitachi (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-145-049&depa=1) drive instead. It's cheaper than the Maxtor, has a larger capacity, and is faster as well.

Ok thanks.
This is actullay a system for my friend. Yea we have a 420watt psu picked out tthat comes with the case we have chosen. Ok I see what you mean with the ram and I'll get 3200 stick.

I just recently o/c my computer a bit for the first time. Just the cpu. I haven't yet got the confidence to mess with any thing else. Its a 2600+ and its clocked at now 2.09ghz. I dont know if this was a big o/c but its enough for me
Thanks guys

BTW I do plan on floating around here for a bit, not a one-2 post wonder ;)
