Hi all - Hope you have time for another question. I´m running subject at 2.0 volts (1.95 is unstable), so I have a few concerns:
#1. The BH6 doesn´t have temp on the cpu, so I have tried to touch the cpu surroundings under heavy load - The "Gorb" seems cold, so is the slocket. Is this a good indication of cpu temp? (I now zero contact between cpu and Gorb could cause this, but that is unlikely as I have used thermal paste)
2#. I have heard talk about "burnin", have anybody experienced it? Is there a good chance I can turn down the volts after a while ("Try it" - I hear your say :) - but I´d like to know in advance).
tia
Mm
If it's new then burn-in can be a god-send.
My 533a@840 took over a month of hard burn-in at 1.80V and then ran like a charm at 1.67V default from then on.
Some think it is a myth, but I think it's a necessity.
I would be concerned about the gorb not being war at that speed and temp, how warm does your motherbaord temp get (I think your board has that sensor) if it gets to about 30-35 depending on case cooling then I guess you are ok.
Does the back of your slocket feal warm?
As for burning in I would recomend setting it to default speed and running at 2v for about a week using one or more of these seti, prime95, unreal tournament, 3dmark 2000 and sisoft sandra burn in wizard and this should allow you to lower the voltage a little (worked for me and my 600@1008 )
this board is so dum it turned the 8 at the end of 1008 into a smiley face :- 8)
My personal experience with the Gorb is that they really don't ever feel warm to the touch, even when the CPU temp is too high. Also, in my experience, the Gorb is not all that efficient at voltage above 1.8.

Thanks all for the fast replys.
Jon: Ok thanks. I know what to expect now.
Phil: The board temp says 26C goes to 27 maybe 28 under heavy load.
The slocket is cold to the touch (on opposite side). Thanks for your burn-in tips.
batboy: That could sound like the Gorb don´t transport heat that good anyway. Maybe I should try a better thermal paste. Any recommendations?
So Batboy, what cooler is good best for a Slocket?
Musicmad, I had pretty good luck with my Golden Orb by scraping off that crappy thermal tape, lapping it in good (I've described how to do this in another thread), and using Arctic Silver thermal paste. Measuring CPU temps with my C-566 running at 100 fbs (850 MHz) @ 1.65v with an ambient temp of 20 degrees C., then after running the Unreal demo loop for 15 minutes, the lapped Gorb and Arctic Silver was good for a 2 degree drop in temp from before.
Marty, I don't know what the best cooler is, but I've read several cooler reviews and seems like the Alphas and GlobalWins often come out at or near the top of the list. Personally, I bought a GlobalWin FOP38 (a noisy SOB) for my socket 370. After lapping it and using Arctic Silver, I got another 2.5 degree drop in CPU temp over and above the lapped Gorb. Nearly 5 degrees cooler than the unlapped Gorb with the preinstalled thermal tape. For normal usage, I switch to a quieter, lower RPM fan and only lose 1 degree of cooling under load..
For a good Slotket cooler, I have a buddy that swears by the Alpha PEP66, but make sure it will fit your motherboard. Don't forget organizing all the wires and rounding the flat cables in your case, plus possibly adding a case fan or two. That really helps motherboard temps by allowing more efficient air flow.
