I think I'm at the end o' the road with my P3 600E @932-956mhz, and I noticed that the PIII gigers are $250, and PC Nut has 700E's garanteed to run @ 933+...Well, I'm already there, and without a peltier or water cooling, I can go no further,...My biggest fear is If I buy a cpu from PC-Nut, it MIGHT do a gig, but the intel 1g IS garanteed to do a gig...and there ain't much difference in price....so I was thinking of getting an EB ver, My logic is this...the "tualatin" isn't due for a while, the cD0 ain't out yet, and the P4 is still too new, and I hear they will change the socket design soon, so that is where I am at.
The 933 is a little cheaper, but I want to overclock a gig. I know, the potential for clocking ain't that great, but I might get lucky....I have before.
Your thoughts-comments welcome

You seem to have a dilemma on your hands.
1. Those 1Ghz parts are unstable as standard.
2. You seem to have a good overclock going.
3. Why spoil that ?
4. Can cD0 be much better than cC0 ?
5. Wouldn't a Tulatin be of much more use ? I can tell you that mobo's will be out in July.
6. P4 0.13 may be as good an option as Tulatin, if only at a premium.
7. You have a life ahead of you, invest in some time instead of a crap P3 1G
Doc, I know what you mean. My C-566 can benchmark 978, but it's still not 1+ gig. I just gotta be running over 1 gig, so I ordered a P-III 700. But, there is some logic to your thinking, those Intel 1 gig chips are the cream of the Intel's P-III crop as far being stable at 1 gig. Knowing Intel, they like to allow a little headroom, so you know right from the start that it'll overclock past 1 gig. Maybe up to 1.1 gig with a little luck and if it's a good chip with good cooling. But, it's not much bang for your buck. The P-III prices will continue to fall all spring, if you can wait a bit, maybe the price will drop enough that it is a good bargain. Retail P-III 700's are a nice price right now, if you're opposed to pre-tested CPUs. (I wouldn't chance OEM chips anymore.) Also, I know where you can get pre-tested 700 P-III CPUs that will run at least1 gig for $170 shipped.
I got a 1g p3 @ 1150 mhz running perfectly stable with the retail cooler and just one extra 80 mm fan blowing cold air in directly on the cpu fan. I've had it going @ 1200 but it wasn't perfectly stable. No prob in windows only when I boot up. I expect to solve that prob with proper cooling on the Cpu.
Hey DocClock aka MadClocker those 600e's are awesome little chips arent they! I had mine stable with a fsb of 140mhz with my BE6-II and a stick of corsair pc133. But it ran fastest with a fsb of 137mhz. most likely due to the AGP bus of 93mhz just screaming for mercy! So backing it off a bit seemed to make the difference. I wish I would have kept that chip instead of getting rid of it for this 800E (which I hate!).

Yea, the 600e is a real smoker..either that, or I got lucky...I mean I took a chance at a computer show, and bought it...a real chance seeing as how it's an oem chip....I'll bet with a pci vid card, you could have seen 900 easy. I will defenately keep this one for a while...btw I ordered the 700e from pc nut, should see a gig with my setup at least.
I was thinking of droping a little money and picking up either a 700E or a celeron with a slotket just to see how high I could go. I know I could get that 700E running faster then what I got this 800E running with very little effort.
The 800E wont go any higher then 960 stable. When I had my 50w peltier, I could boot up and run windows @1gig for a while. But I would get random lockups while gaming. I think If I were to go to a little bit bigger peltier I could get it to go. But I dont have watercooling and dont want to start overpowering the heatsink with to much heat. Also it just seems like the chip want's more voltage. and my board wont allow anymore then 1.9v. If I could get her to 2.0v maybe she would go.
Right now just to keep her stable @ 960mhz I need to run at 1.85v. It's been there for about 5 months and I still cant lower the voltage.
