I really don't know which one of these to get, either this

or
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?DEPA=1&sumit=Go&description=WGR614&searchdepa=1
can someone tell me the difference between these two besides the speed? because with the reciever prices added in then the first on (108mb/s) would be 100 dollars more than the 54mb/s. So i don't know if the 100 dollars would be worth it.

unless you plan on transferring large files over your network go with the slower one, because your internet isnt going to ever hit 54 mbps let alone 108 so if you plan on constantly transferring files over your network go with the faster one other wise save yourself some money and go with the cheaper one

The links are broken but I think that I know what you are talking about. The 54 refers to 802.11g. The 108 is a non standard doubling of the 802.11g. Both should also work at the 54 level as well as the 802.11b.

Do you want to pay for the 108 speed? That's the only difference.

Hmmm. I got the links to work today. Must have been on my end. After closer examination, I can tell you that the only difference is the that the more expensive unit double the speed of the 802.11g. Otherwise, they both use 802.11g and 802.11b.

And, the 108 is only good with Netgear cards that support it. USR also has a router/cards that will do 100mb...

Stick with standards (even though G isn't really a "standard" as of yet...)

internet you can even go with a b router, but file sharing i'd go with the g, you need a supporting g adapter that does higher transfer to work with the router.
