View Full Version : cpu core voltage
Im running a cel600 on a abit bx133 motherboard...
When i try to go past 900mhz (100fsb) i cant get into windows(98se), at least not for long...i think its a core voltage prob but i cant get that past 1,75...is there any way to increase the maximum cpu core voltage allowed?

Welcome to the forum!
There are ways to increase the voltage on a Celeron above the limitations of the board. Have you read the guides on overclocking basics on the main page? They will give you some vital information that MUST be addressed before you dive right in.
That said, there is a thread (Celeron600 overclocking failure) on this board that covers your question in great detail.
Read the guides if you haven't already done so. If you are then willing to VOID YOUR WARRANTY and push the equipment farther, there are lots of great people here who are willing to help (myself included).

If he has already tried 900MHz, he has already void the warranty anyway :)

I have a c600 and i OCed it to 900(100fsb) with no prob keeping it on 1.7 and runing smooth for a month now on an asus cubx so maybe the problem is not in the vcore voltage but somewhere else i mylesf am a newbie so i cant say what the prob may be u so if u guys r really the profesionals u guys claim to be help this guy where i cannot

Hi Pupster. Nice new signature line! Now that you've done it, go ahead and brag about it! WTG
Kain, I wouldn't consider myself a professional at all. I consider myself a newbie too (hence the name) and will for a VERRRRYYY LOOOONNNNG time. As far as the voltage issue goes, a lot of the success is attributable to the stepping of the chip. You might have a cC0, he might have a cB0. The cC0 chips tend to OC a little better with less voltage tweaking, the cB0's (like mine) need a little more help. I hope that the information that Pupster, drBrain, and myself have been exchanging for the last few days might help warg too. That's why I directed him to the thread. It lays the voltage issue on the CeleronII out in great detail, and gives a couple of real success stories (Like PupsterXero above) too. 900 isn't the limit at all, just a nice resting point for the real climb!
