Hi ive just been offered a stick of Crucial 512mb pc2700 DDR which is also ECC

I was wondering will this stick run in my board along with 2 other sticks of 512mb pc2700 non-ECC ram

It says on ASUS's site that non-ECC ram is needed but im wondering why

Can anyone help thanks Sven:)
