Does anybody know how to overclock an Emachine? I have an etower 500ix. I went into my system bios and I couldn't find anything on how to change my bus. I do have jumpers on my motherboard, but according to the chart on the case they don't have anything to do with speed or bus enabling. Can somebody help me?
Thanks

Try to find out as much as u can about your mainboard, either by writing down the bios string at the bottom of your screen durring bootup, and then doing a search for the mobo maker....and then you might find something usefull...some companies call the cpu setup by different names, to keep the foolhardy from getting into the guts and destroying everything...so look for buz words like frequency setting, cpu host freq, system freq, you know, the obvious you could write to e-machines, and say something like "i'm upgrading my cpu and need the bus & multiplier settings settings" .
If you haven't formatted your hdd yet, then right click on the My computer icon, select properties, and on the general tab, you should find a button that when clicked should point you to their e-mail address. good luck
Try using Sandra by downloading it at:
http://www.octools.com/benchmarks.htm
or
http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/sandra
Look in the Mainboard Information module of the Sandra program. It will give you your "Chipset" and "System Monitor Device".
Once you know these post them here and maybe some members will be able to help you.
