Hello,

I am looking to build the ultimate gaming computer, but I also want to experiment with overclocking and watercooling.

I was just wondering how well the A64 compares to the P4 interms of overclocking? I looked at the CPU database and there really wasn't much in terms of A64 scores.

I guess I am not concerned with the future-proof of my setup seeing that when I upgrade (about every two-three years) I almost start from scratch.

Thanks for any insight you might be able to give me.

Sam.

The A64's don't overclock too much higher over stock, only about 300Mhz, but that is enough to make it REALLY powerful. A 2.2Ghz 3000+ does equal to or bettr than an fx-51. If you want a higher multiplier, just go with the 3400+. At stock, it performs about even with the fx-51 so any overclocking brings you a lot of power. A 3400+ overclocked whoops a 3.2Ghz PIV hands down in just about all gaming benchmarks by a long shot.

Ahhhh but does a 3400+ overclocked whoop a 3.2Ghz overclocked to 3.6 or 3.8 Ghz?

I believe it does.

If it does that would be pretty awesome. I guess I just need to ask myself if the cost is worth it. A 2.6C PIV that can be overclocked to 3.6 Ghz is a lot cheaper than a 3400+ A64.

2.4ghz A64 = 4.0-4.2ghz P4
