i just bought a pIII 700 fc-pga and an abit slotket III to run on my abit be6. the problem is i can only go to 124 mhz fsb when i try 133 it freezes after it boots into win 98se and my sound emits a high pitched tone. I am using intel's hsf 128 mb pc133 and a tnt vid card. i think the problem is my agp because i can only get 1/1 and 2/3 agp/fsb ratio. now i know others have done this. anyone have any tips, sugestions? btw i have the latest bios upgrades and the chip is a sl45y.

you have tried upping the voltage havent you? i hope your mobo or slotket has voltage jumpers. just up it ever so slightly, burn in and see what happens. also i would try a new hsf if you really want high mhz.

oh yeah i forgot to mention that i am running 1.75 volts now. I have tried 1.85v with no avail. it has been running at 124 fsb for for at least 80 hrs. before i tried once again this morning to run at 133

Does sound like your vid card holding you back, see if you can find a pci or a better agp card and see if you can use a 133mhz fsb thenm, also you really should have some decent thermal comound/grease between the chip and heatsink which Intel don't do, plus Intel coolers are a bit weedy.

Phil,

Which video cards do you think are the best for overclocking?

My tnt2 ultra ran happily on an 89mhz agp bus when I had a 133mhz fsb, and even worked on a 133mhz agp bus when I set the agp divider to 1 but that is probabally just a fluke, any of the new nvidia cards will do, the geforce 2mx is a good cheap card but I would wait seeing as how the geforce 3 is due any time now which will bring the price of the geforce 2 cards down and there are rumours of a geforce 3 mx as well.
