I'm wondering if anyone knows what setting to change in the BIOS Soft menu II? My comp info is posted below. Anyone who knows much about the Soft Menu II bios feature and knows any settings I'd be glad to hear them =) Thanx

I've never played with the VA6 but I have a bunch of softmenu boards. On the cpu settings page you want to select "user defined" for the cpu and then select whatever you want. make sure "speed error hold" is disabled. Try settings around 145FSB with 1/4PCI divider, and 2/3 AGP divider and it may run straight away- if your memory can handle that FSB. Then up the FSB until it gets unstable.

You may need to increase Vcore along the way, and you will need good cooling and a watchful eye on the temps. What cooling do you have- case and cpu?

Not sure about the case. Nothing special really. Have a dual fan Heatsink on the CPU.

Im curios what i should set the multiply factor at? Right now ive got the chip running at 630

The multiplier won't actually change how the chip runs because the Intel chips are locked at the factory for multiplier. So you can set it anywhere and the result will be the same.

What you have to change is the Front Side Bus speed as this isn't locked by Intel.

So change the FSB a bit and see if you can boot. See Tim's suggestions.

It lets me change it to 140 1/4....If i go to 150 1/4 it freezes. At 140 it gives me 630mhz. Runs fine. The only thing im scared to touch is the Cpu Volts.

Lurker,
I bet it is your memory holding you up past 140fsb.

I had some PC133 memory that would run at 140fsb ok
with the CAS2 setting, but I had to put it to CAS3 to run
at 150.

Most PC133 memory will run faster than 133, but as you get
closer to 150fsb, tweaks that dont matter much at 133 can
make big differences stability-wise.

Check out www.rojakpot.com/Speed_Demonz.htm
for the BIOS guide there. Depending upon your memorys
max speed, you should be able to get running at 150fsb
without messing with the voltage. or at least not much.

Thankyou for the info =)
