I finally finished the new mod today! The rad is under the house, the smartfan II is gone, and all is much quieter. But the best part is I went from 46ºC full load to 22ºC full load! I finally found a use for winter time.

This was before the mod.

after the mod. Here you can see the relay I am using to power the fan and pump. The fan (a pabst 120mm) has it's own p/s, the square transformer you see plugged into the outlet.

The radiator. The fan and shroud are on the other side. Next, I will put the skirting back and put a short duct to the outside with a vent grill on it. But this is the gist of it.

That's awesome. You have to post how much better your overclock is! :)

Wish my parents would let me mod my house...

Come spring, I'm going to enlist the help of a hvac friend to help me convert an old working 15,000btu air conditioner into either a phase change cooler or a water chiller. Either way, I'll stay cool. in the summer :)

Nice t-line, those pics look really good. You did put a fan on the heatercore, didn't you?

Looks great! That waterblock looks very familiar! where did you get it?

SIMPILY AMAZING! what coolant u using...? outside ambient...?
Block....?

Don't you need some insulation on the block/tubing?

Cuda

Coolant is prestone and water, 60/40 mix because of outside temps. (12ºF this morning)

The w/b is a JFettig I bought it from littlepiggy a while back. I want to drill another whole in the center over the fin and put in a third barb.

Outside ambient right now is about 27ºF and falling.

After a few hours of folding and surfing, temp is now 28ºC. So far so good.

The fan is on the inside. It is a Pabst 120mm with the tupperware shroud.

I used dielectric grease, if condensation becomes a problem, I will insulate, but no condensation has appeared yet. I think case ventilation is preventing it.

I edited the first post to explain a little about the cooling fan. It is a Pabst 120mm. I have both it, and the pump running through an ice cube relay. The relay is visible in the bottom of the case in the second pic. The fan is powered by a seperate plug in transformer which can be seen in the T-line pic. The red wire is the power wire for the fan. This way it dosen't draw from the pc p/s.

Sorry I haven't answered, I've been working out of town all week. The 2500 o/c ran stable for about four hours. I turned it back to 2267 because I was going out of town and didn't want to come home to a disaster. I'll be home for the next four days and I'll prime the crap out of it at 2500+ for a couple of days.

Nice OC

Jon

Block's working fine Jon. I am considering drilling another hole directly over the die and jetting the coolant directly onto the fin. Do you think it would improve performance?

btw...I think I mentioned earlier that the waterblock is a JFettig, incase anybody was wondering.

If you were to add another hole, you would want to take the top off, drill and tap it. It would possibly decrease temps, but I am not sure how much. I do not remember if there is room for it and the hoses. I dont think I have the origional drawings anymore. To put 3 3/4OD hoses in that small area is really difficult.

What I think I might do is put in a copper fitting and solder a small 1/2" extension to it so the hoses would fit.

I'm pretty happy right now. It's been running prime all night at 209*12 with 1.925 Vcore. CPU temp this morning is a whopping 18º C  Ambient outside is 2ºF  The water lines in the bathroom wall are frozen but the rig is running great!

I'll let it prime through the day and post a screen shot later, after work. I just hope the stupid bathroom lines thaw on their own without busting  :(

Nice Cuda, very impressive. Hey were is the heatercore located the garage? If so, why not throw an industrial fan on there? :D

jeeze , you said that the af was frozen in the wall but i dont think you could run it with no flow..... im sayin put a tuppaware container in the ground and then use that so its passive , or get a car radiator so you have more surface area and run passive!

You misunderstand, the WATER lines for the HOUSE were frozen, not the w/c lines.

o lol , i was sayin if the af is frozen omfg its not hot there (b/c cold has no meaning) I want to get that chiller off surplus center but parents wont let me continue cooling lower :( , what pump u got for all this , looks like mag3. Is it enough , btw whats your flowrates and is there condensation on lines any time...?

hmmm...im at 2.47 without modding my house....think i will stick with that.

The house modding is two small holes in the floor, easily fixed. This was more of an experiment to see what would happen to my temps. The result, I must say, was worth it. The temps are way down as is the noise. My case fans are a whisper and the pump is a quiet, low hum. Compared to the screaming SF2 or the 120 Pabst at 12V, this thing is ultra quiet. Since it folds 24/7, I had to quiet it down so I could sleep.

The pump is a mag 5. I don't know the flow rates, and there has been zero condensation. I can't figure that one out. Of course, it's always cool in my room and I have great case airflow; maybe that's why.
