im planning to make my college computer soon but i dont know what to choose!
i have celeron 333@500 566@700(not stable at 856)
i dont know how to overclock durons but i heard duron is really good overclocking cpu
im going to get ABIT motherboard (easy)
but i dont know if duron overclocks like celerons
(switching bus speeds and voltage)
i heard u have to use soldier to unlock the durons is that true?
i really dont want to touch my cpu.
should i stay with celerons? or go for duron

Building the system from scratch? go with the duron, MHz per MHz they are not only cheaper to buy but faster, they also, like the celerons overclock very well
Upgrading an Intel based system? i would go with the celeron as you most likely will not have to buy a new motherboard. so this option will cost you less.

I run a celeron, upgraded my P2 with it...
but like i said, if i had to get a new motherboard i would go with the duron every time

To overclock the duron you just connect some bridges on the top of the chip with a pencil, easily to do and revearse. If you buy a duron in the 800 range theres a good chance it will make 1ghz with a good cooler, also a plus is that without the muliplyer lock of the celeron you have more freadom to get the best balance of cpu speed and memory speed.
