I have a celery 700 running at 810Mhz. I would like to try and get this a bit higher, but with out taking my FSB any higher (currently at 77Mhz)

I have heard that it is possible to crack the multiplier lock on the chip by connecting some pins together with a sharp HP pencil.
If so, then which pins do I connect and what is the risk to the CPU?
I have a friend that 'pencilled' his athlon to much success and insists that if an error is made, then it can just be rubbed out.

Also I would like to know where I could buy a decent heat sink. My CPU runs at about 40 c. ATM I have a standard heat sink and a low noise fan (hence the heat). With the standard Intel fan it sits at about 25 c, but I HATE noisy computers!!

If you could change the muyltiplier on an intel chip, we would all be doing it. Sorry it is locked. To over clock more you will need to push you FSB higher.
Why do you not want to go over 77Mhz??
I have my 633 cele running at 109FSB at 1040Mhz.

Push the FSB further and make sure you have good cooling.

That thing with the pencil is for amd chips not intel, like engjohn said there is no know way of cracking the multiplyer and I would say that there is NO practical way of doing it

I've a C2 600 cb0 @746 1.7v Fsb@83 and it's a rock!
Your temperature it's good and you can set Fsb@83 with "safe" (you have also better Pci timing), 77 it's a not common freq.
